Frequently asked questions

Why a workshop for only women? I could just as well go to a workhop for *people*, right?

Sure, the teaching materials would be the same. However, for some reason the gender gap in computer science is large and growing. Coding has an image problem (think of the geeky male programmer stereotype) and many women lack the confidence to compete with men in this men-dominated area. With this series of workshops I want to lower the treshold for women to start learning how to program. Did you know that the first programmers in history were actually women?

Will I have the skills to build a website/app after this workshop?

By the end of the workshop you won't be able to build an entire website or app, but you'll be able to set up a very simple webpage. The workshop is meant as a stepping stone to find out whether you enjoy programming and web development, and then to dive further into it.

Who are you?

I’m Lisa Dalhuijsen, an independent web designer and developer based in The Hague. I have 24 years of experience in web development, yet somehow I only recently got the idea to share my knowledge :) Check out my work at studiowith.nl.

Who's the audience?

This workshop is for women (and people who identify as women) of all ages. Many participants already have careers in other fields but are curious about IT.
